Commandos post six straight victories

After suffering a first game loss to the Air Force, the 85-pound Williamsville Commandos have run off a string of six consecutive victories.

Their first win was a 25-12 victory over the Wilson Barracudas. Commando offensive lineman Brian Fulford, Jamie Camarrie, Jake Johnson, Drew Butler, Ben Geiger, Massimo Zimmerman and T.J. Allen paved the way for the Commandos ball carriers.

Ten different backs rushed for 298 yards on 30 carries with touchdowns being scored by Mariano Baldon, Ryan Duran, Walton Cole and Arjun Chima.

Commandos 27,

Niagara-Wheatfield Bobcats 0

Outstanding defense guided the Commandos to their second victory of the season with a shutout over the Bobcats.

Leading the way were defensive lineman Brian Fulford, Jamie Camarrie, Ben Geiger, Zach Schectman, Tristan Spoth, Brian Murphy and Austin Martin.

Leading tacklers for the victors were Keenan Umar (eight), Alex Jones (six), Drew Kleinman (five), Alec Paul (four) and Kevin Steele (three).

The Commando offense rushed for 259 yards on 24 attempts. Mariano Baldon and Justin James each scored a touchdown and had extra point conversions while Nathan Gentile and Kyle Dunn added the other Commando touchdowns.

Commandos 27,

NT Blizzard 14

Nathan Gentile led the Commandos to their third victory in a row, scoring two first half touchdowns on runs of 47 and 65 yards and added an extra-point reception on a pass from Ryan Duran.

Justin James added a touchdown and a conversion run while Walton Cole and Mariano Baldon each scored rushing touchdowns. Having strong games on defense were Duran, Adam Schoenle, Austin Martin, Brian Fulford, Ben Geiger, T.J. Allen, Jamie Camarrie and Arjun Chima.

Commandos 22,

Grand Island Vikings 14

Marinao Baldon scored on a 55-yard run, added a conversion run and finished with 107 yards rushing on 13 attempts to lead the Commandos to their fourth consecutive win.

Justin James rushed for 87 yards with a touchdown run and Nathan Gentile added a 51-yard touchdown and an extra-point reception from Ryan Duran.

Walton Cole's conversion run rounded out the scoring for the Commandos, who took a 22-7 lead into the half.

Leading the way on defense were Alec Paul, Keenan Umar, Arjun Chima, Ryan Duran and Brian Fulford.

Commandos 20,

NT Timber wolves 12

The Commandos jumped out to a 20-0 first half lead and survived two touchdowns by the NT Wolves in the game's final four minutes.

Ryan Duran finished with 13 tackles and Brian Fulford added nine tackles to lead the defensive effort. Also playing well defensively for the Commandos were Adam Schoenle, Brian Murphy, Nick Mauro, Tristan Spoth, Arjun Chima, Ben Geiger and Zach Schectman.

Duran rushed for one touchdown and Mariano Baldon ran for two touchdowns, including a 52-yard dash for the Commandos, who finished with 228 yards on 28 rushes. Duran and Walton Cole each added conversion runs.

Commandos 32,

Sweet Home 6

Nathan Gentile had rushing touchdowns of 41 and four yards. Justin James added a 38-yard score to lead the rushing attack. Kevin Steele and Mariano Baldon also added touchdown runs for the Commandos.

The defensive effort was led by Alex Jones, Drew Kleiman, Nick Mauro, Jake Johnson, Drew Butler, Kyle Dunn, Massimo Zimmerman, T.J. Allen, Austin Martin and Keenan Umar.
