ASC's Amanda Gordon qualifies for Eastern sectionals

Time Warner Cable presented the North Atlantic Regional Championships from Oct. 9 to 14.

Hosted by the Amherst Skating Club, the six-day event brought in 287 competitors from 40 different skating clubs located across New York State, New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania. One hundred thirty-seven coaches attended along with 35 judges.

Co-chairs Johanna Calvert and Pam Hart headed the 31-volunteer organizing committee.

U.S. Figure Skating top officials commented to the ASC how pleased they were with the smoothly run event, despite several key United States Figure Skating officials having been left stranded in New York City with flight delays.

Amherst Skating Club medalist Amanda Gordon, of Clarence, placed fourth in Junior Ladies to qualify her for the U.S. Figure Skating Eastern Sectionals on Nov. 14 in Raleigh, N.C. Gordon completed several triple jumps and double-Axel combinations along with excellent spins and footwork to secure her win.
