The Breast Cancer Network to host genetic counseling
BeeHealthy

Carolyn D. Farrell
The Breast Cancer Network will sponsor a program titled "Genetic Counseling and Testing" at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 6320 Main Street, Williamsville.

The program is open to the public and will take place in the Emerson Room. A support group for breast cancer survivors and those fighting breast cancer will follow the program at 7:45 p.m.

The guest speaker for the evening will be Carolyn D. Farrell, director of Clinical Genetics Service at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Farrell will present the latest information available on genetics consultation and testing following a diagnosis of breast cancer.

Genetic testing for cancer-associated gene mutations is offered, dependent upon family history. Many insurance companies offer coverage for the genetic testing.

The Clinical Genetics Service maintains a breast cancer risk registry that includes data from over 3,300 women seen through the Breast Clinic at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Call Georgia at 674-8683 if you will be attending the program so adequate refreshments for those in attendance can be provided.

For further information, call Alice Gray, President of the Breast Cancer Network, at 741-3832, or call Roswell Park at 845-7747.
