Amherst residents to perform in GBYO The Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Gerard Floriano, will open their 49th season with a performance at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 at Kleinhans Music Hall, 71 Symphony Circle in Buffalo. Students from the Amherst area who will be performing are: Alexandra Gilewicz, Emily Greetham, Thomas Pera, Sam Suggs, Emily Weinheimer, Hayden Denesha and Katherine Russell, of Amherst. Patrick Allison, Samuel Ang, Jonathan Ang, Mark Chee, Angelo DiLoreto, Yanxi Du, Hannah Huang, Joe Isom, Jinjoo Kang, Josh Newman, Karen Park, Derek Voigt and Audrey Yu, of East Amherst. Katie Berquist, Natalie Gong, Holly Spohn and Daniel Ziemann, of Getzville. Maggie and Martha Wydysh of Snyder. Sandra Berdick, Nadine Cohen, Alexas Esposito, Jiyoon Kim, Ariella Korn, Christina Kuvshinoff, Dan Lamancuso, Alex Lamparelli, Allison Lyttle, Kathryn Saturnino, Sara Scofidio, Kyle Torres-Hiyoshi, Jilene VanOpdorp, Samuel Wie, Benjamin Wie and Hilary Wittmer, of Williamsville. The orchestra will feature the piano concerto competition winner, Clarence resident Joseph Mohan, performing the first movement from Mozart's "Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor." Also on the program are Bizet's "Carmen Suite No. 2"; "Brahms' Hungarian Dances Nos. 1, 3 and 5"; and the first movement of Mahler's "Symphony No. 1." Tickets will be available at the door. Adults are only $10 and seniors and students are $5. |
