Junior League of Buffalo to host luncheon on Nov. 15

The Junior League of Buffalo will host An Afternoon of Culinary Delights luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 15 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its award-winning cookbook, "Great Lake Effects - Buffalo Beyond Winter & Wings."

The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at The Park Country Club, 4949 Sheridan Drive, Williamsville, with a cookbook signing by Buffalo-area artist, Margaret M. Martin.

Martin's full-color renderings of the downtown skyline, the waterfront and other architectural treasures of Western New York illustrate the 176-page, hardcover book. In addition, a silent auction will take place.

Guest speaker at the luncheon will be Janice Okun, restaurant critic. Selected recipes from the cookbook will be served at the luncheon.

The Junior League of Buffalo's "Great Lake Effects: Buffalo Beyond Winter & Wings," originally published in 1997, is the winner of the Mid-Atlantic Region Tabasco Community Cookbook Award. In addition, it has been highlighted in America's Best Recipes collection and has received the designation as the official cookbook of Erie County.

Tickets for the event are $45 per person and may be purchased by calling Junior League headquarters at 884-8865. Net proceeds from the luncheon chaired by Junior League members Cindi Winter and Alexandra Wehr will benefit the community work and scholarship programs of the organization.
