Thirteen distinguished alumni chosen for Williamsville Wall of Fame
      The Williamsville Central School District will honor 13 distinguished graduates who have gone on to successful careers in academia, medicine, business, entertainment, music, broadcasting and public service. The 2007 Wall of Fame Induction includes alumni from the district's three high schools.

Student awarded scholarship
      St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute has named Cole Schneider, class of 2008, of Williamsville, a recipient of the 27th annual Phil Scaffidi Alumni Scholarship for the 2007-08 school year. He shares the honor with Philip Scaffidi, class of 2008, of Buffalo.

      The Canisius College Alumni Association will president its Distinguished Alumni Award to Williamsville residents Nelson D. Civello and Franklin J. Sciortino during ceremonies on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the college's Montante Cultural Center.

      The new assistant principal of Sweet Home Middle School has been named. The Sweet Home Board of Education approved Martin J. Pizur's appointment on Oct. 9. The new assistant principal will be joining Sweet Home from Amherst Middle School.

      Roswell Park Cancer Institute and its partners in cancer care will host "Cancer in the Classroom," an educational program for family members, educators and school professionals, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Samuel's Grande Manor, 8750 Main St., Clarence.

Pigeon named interim Amherst High principal

      Greg Pigeon is Amherst High School's new interim principal. At the Oct. 16 Amherst Board of Education meeting, Pigeon, the high school's assistant principal and dean of students since the end of the 2006-07 school year, was unanimously approved by the board as interim principal.

Rotary offers paid travel, experience to young professionals
      As part of Rotary International's Group Study Exchange program, local Rotary District No. 7090 will be sending a team to Bulgaria in May 2008, as well as hosting a similar Bulgarian team at the same time.

Student run theatre group celebrates fifth anniversary
      Two young girls, with big hearts, a lot of creativity and a love for theatre, have transformed the word fundraiser. Brittany and Monisha Bhayana were 9 and 10 years old, respectively, when they started directing plays to raise money for The Ronald McDonald House.
