North runs well in dual meet

Williamsville North's cross country teams battled Frontier and Lancaster in an ECIC Division

triangular meet at Lancaster.

The Spartan boys team lost two hard-fought races, losing 25-30 against Lancaster and 26-29 to Frontier. Geoff Hurley (17:45) and Mike Thielman (17:49) ran exceptionally strong races, finishing second and third, respectively. Joe Seitz (18:38) finished eighth and Ryan Perry (19:03) finished ninth. Rob Golightly (20:12), Nate Chertack (21:34), Don Seitz (22:40), Rich Rockwell (23:00), John Boser (24:10), Charles Jordan (23:55) and Brad Weinstein (28:20) also ran for North.

The Lady Spartans defeated Lancaster, 22-33, and lost a one-point heartbreaker, 27-28, to Frontier. Eighth-graders Rachel Dorogi (21:48) and Sarah Loud (21:49) ran together, pacing themselves with second- and third-place finishes, respectively. Natalie Worley (22:51) finished eighth and Kim Berus (22:59) finished ninth. Michelle Bauman (24:03) finished the scoring for the Spartans as she finished in 16th. Other noteworthy performances included Amy Loud (24:20), Kaila Raybuck (25:54), Dawn Hu (25:46), Shelby Gray (26:54), Jessica Leising (26:22) and Stephanie Kranz (27:18).
