Louise M. Batson, 77, of Amherst, died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo.
Mrs. Batson grew up in Philadelphia, Pa., and graduated from Linden Hall Seminary and Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa.
She served on the board and was treasurer of Gateway-Longview Inc. She also served on the Junior Board of Directors of the Women's & Children's Hospital of Buffalo and volunteered at the hospital gift shop. In 1982 and 1983, she was president of Rotary-Anne's, what was then the women's division of the Rotary Club of Buffalo.
She was a longtime member of the Twentieth Century Club, serving terms as director, officer and committee chairperson. In the past, she was active in the PTA at Smallwood School in Snyder. She was also the past chairperson of the Junior Parish Society of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed bowling and carried the high average for the ladies leagues at the Buffalo Club and the Buffalo Canoe Club a number of times. She received several awards for her participation in the race committees at the Parkway Sailing Club, Fort Erie and Buffalo Canoe Club. She spent summers at a family cottage in Canada, where she enjoyed gardening and visits from her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frederick J. Jr.; two daughters, Diane B. Cart and Margaret Kittinger Batson; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Ave., Buffalo. Arrangements were made by the Dengler & Roberts Funeral Home.
