Robbers strike town in three incidents Two armed robberies and a third attempted robbery, all of which are still under investigation, were reported over four days in Amherst. At 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Amherst police were called to a Red Apple convenience store at 645 Millersport Highway. According to the report, the store clerk was locking up for the evening when he heard someone enter the store and saw a man in dark clothing pointing a dark handgun at him. The suspect threw a backpack over the counter and told the clerk to give him everything he had. The suspect then left with an undetermined amount of money in a dark orange car headed North on Millersport. On Monday night, police were called to Uncle John's No. 1 Restaurant, 267 Grover Cleveland Highway, in connection with an attempted armed robbery. The suspect displayed a knife and ordered the clerk to open the cash register. The restaurant owner then grabbed two kitchen knives and tossed the cordless phone to his wife, instructing her to call 911. According to the report, the suspect left, heading south on foot. Detectives and a canine unit were called in to investigate. Early Tuesday morning, three individuals were exiting an Allenhurst Road apartment when they were approached by two males who displayed a gun and a knife. The victims were ordered to the ground, and an undetermined amount of money was taken from them. They then notified a passing police car. |
