American Heart Association has new volunteers

McGuire Development Company president James Dentinger has been named chairman of the American Heart Association's Buffalo/ Niagara region.

Elected to the board of directors in 2006, Dentinger is an active volunteer for the American Heart Association, with a passion for reducing the rates of heart disease and stroke in Western New York.

Dentinger will work closely with the American Heart Association's new Buffalo/Niagara executive director, Cronan Long.

Joining the team in late summer, Long brings with him experience from his former position as executive director for the American Diabetes Association covering upstate New York, Vermont and western Massachusetts markets.

A graduate of Canisius College with a degree in business administration, Long offers 15 years of experience in volunteer management and has worked with elected officials and business, education and health care professionals.

Long will be directly responsible for the fundraising efforts and events the American Heart Association organizes each year to fulfill its mission of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
