• SILENT AUCTION FOR
CARNEGIE ART CENTER -
Authors & Artists for the Carnegie Art
Center will feature books and
bookmarks created by more than 80
prominent authors and artists with
connections to Western New York.
Proceeds from the silent auction will
benefit the Carnegie Art Center
Historic Restoration Fund. Preview at 7
p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, followed by the
reception and silent auction at 7:30 p.m.

• ON THE RADIO - A Buffalo
Philharmonic Orchestra concert will be
featured on the NPR radio program,
"From the Top," at 9 a.m. Saturday,
Oct. 13 on WNED 94.5 FM. The
concert was recorded live in July at the
BPO's Summerfest at Artpark in
Lewiston.
• HOWL-O-WEEN HAYRIDES -
Tickets are now on sale for the 11th
annual Howl-O-Ween Hayrides,
5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27
at The Buffalo Zoo, 300 Parkside Ave.,
Buffalo. Tickets are $5 for adults and
children Zoo members and $8 for
nonmembers. Children under 24 months
old will be admitted free. Tickets are

also be purchased at the Zoo's main gate
each night of the event.
• NOSFERAT U - Tickets are now
on sale for the original silent film,
"Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horror"
(1922), 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at
Shea's Performing Arts Center. The
evening will feature the Boston-based
Devil Music Ensemble who will
perform their original score live to the
classic horror film. Tickets are $15.50
and are available at the Shea's ticket
office, 650 Main St., and through

• BOOK RELEASE - The North
Tonawanda History Museum has
received the first shipment of "North
Tonawanda: The Lumber City," its first
full-length book on the history of North
Tonawanda. All pre-purchased copies
have been distributed, mailed or being
held for pick up. The first order was
sold out before it arrived and second
and third orders have been placed. The
book is available through the museum
for $34.95 each, and for $38.95, it can
