Event at HSBC Arena to benefit Buffalo firefighter
A benefit celebration for injured Buffalo firefighter Mark Reed will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 in the atrium of HSBC Arena.
Reed was critically injured at a June 10 arson fire in Buffalo. He was in a coma, lost a leg to infection and underwent numerous surgeries at the Erie County Medical Center. In what many considered a miracle, he was released from the hospital 52 days after the fire.
Scheduled to perform during the event are the Stone
Bridge Band, Penny Whiskey, Buffalo Steel, the Gordon
Highlanders, the Buffalo Jills and John and Mary from 10,000 Maniacs. Included will be food, beverages and auctions of sports memorabilia.
The event is sponsored by the Buffalo Sabres and "Mark's Crew" from Engine 31 and Truck 14 in cooperation with the Buffalo Professional Firefighters Local 282 and the Buffalo Fire Department. Tickets are $25 each and available at the HSBC box office and Tickets.com. For more details, call 837-6620.
