The musical biography by Randal Myler and Mark Harelik and presented by the same creative team that presented "Always Patsy Cline" highlights the legendary country singer-songwriter who has been called one of the great innovators of American popular music.
The musical follows Williams' rise from his beginnings on the Louisiana Hayride to his triumphs at the Grand Ole Opry to his eventual self-destruction at the age of 29. Audiences will be treated to Williams favorites including "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," "Move It On Over" and "Hey, Good Lookin'" - which are given fresh and profound resonance set in the context of Williams' lif e.
The production, directed by Tom Makar, features Jake Penrod as Hank Williams, Rodney Appleby, Dwayne Hall, Sheila McCarthy, Tom Makar, Jim Maloy, Kenny Peterson, Bonnie Jean Taylor, Dawn Woollacott and Paul Zittel.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 11 and 12, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at D'Youville College, 320 Porter Ave., Buffalo.
