Park School to hold open house
      The Park School of Buffalo will host an open house for prospective families on Tuesday, Oct. 16 on the school's 32-acre campus, located at 4625 Harlem Road, between Main Street and Sheridan Drive, in Snyder. The open house will begin in the dining hall at 8:30 a.m.

Capital projects outlined at Amherst schools

      The timeline for the Amherst Central School District's capital construction project was outlined at the Oct. 2 Board of Education meeting. Rick Perry, project architect from the Thomas Group, said there are two phases of the project to be slated for New York State Education Department approval.

Amherst schools agree on insurance plan
      The Amherst Central School District's Board of Education and the Amherst Education Association, bargaining agent for 275 district teachers and nurses, have agreed to a four-year health insurance contract, retroactive to July 1, 2007 and effective through June 30, 2011.

Smallwood named Blue Ribbon School
      At the Oct. 2 Board of Education meeting, Amherst Superintendent Laura Chabe said Smallwood Drive Elementary has been chosen as one of the 2007 No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools. Smallwood is one of 16 schools across New York State and 287 in the United States to earn the distinction.
