BASEBALL CHAMPS - Christ the King defeated St. Mary's of Lancaster, 10-1, to win the Buffalo Catholic diocese Depew Baseball League championship on Monday, Sept. 24. Jake Foster threw five complete innings, striking out seven, and scattering four hits. Paul Schmitt and Jack Lyons led the offense with two hits apiece. Key contributors in CTK's six-run fifth inning were Jack Doyle, Michael Uba, Jack Brady, Joe Lesh, Chris MacPherson, and Max Kreuz. Joe Ortolani led CTK's defense with put-outs from shortstop to close out the fourth and fifth innings, and a three-up, three-down pitching effort in the sixth.
