Town of Tonawanda Titans set district records

The Town of Tonawanda Titans swim club finished the long course season with two new Niagara District records.

Marissa Dressel set a new district record in the 200-meter freestyle at nationals in Indianapolis, Ind.

Over the course of the junior and senior national meets, Dressel broke three Titan women's records and was a part of the club record-breaking 800 freestyle relay along with Sam Palma (Lancaster), Frances Stephenson and Natalie Lewis. Victoria Jacumski (Clarence) and Jennifer Anthone (Williamsville) both had outstanding swims at nationals.

Declan McLaughlin (Orchard Park) broke the Niagara District record in the men's 11 - 12 200 breaststroke twice in one day at the United States Northeastern Zone meet. In addition, McLaughlin set four new Titan team records. Joe Martin set two men's new 11 - 12 team records. Alec Pokornowski (Clarence), Jacob Hofmar-Glennon (Amherst), Lauren Phillips (Cheektowaga) and Madeline Jacumski (Clarence) all posted lifetime best swims at the United States Northeastern Zone meet.

The Titans are starting up the short course swim season. The Titans will be screening new swimmers for the team over the next three weeks.
