The SS. Peter & Paul swim team was defeated by St. Mark's on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Sweet Home High School, 137-107.

Point winners: 11 & up: Rachel Kuechle, Maury Fields, Kathleen Ruggiero, Rachel Nasca, Samantha Basile, Allyson Costanza; 9 & 10: Marissa Olsen, Lauren Shine, Matt Ruggiero, Jason Brick, Peter Weimer, Katie Colson, Alexandra Sommer; 8 & under: Charles Weimer, Mark Venditti, Claire Noe, Brynn Cowe, Jacob Barberio, Sean Murphy, and Jessica Shine.

The SS. Peter and Paul girls volleyball varsity white team raised its record to 5-1 in a double header against Our Lady Blessed Sacrament on Sept. 27. SSPP beat OLBS team 2, 3-0, then OLBS team 1, 2-1.

Claire Haumesser, Marla Calabro, and Samantha Basile led the attack with several long strings of server points to give SSPP leads. Clare Costello, Christina Seitz, and Olivia Jakson contributed points on their serves to supplement the SSPP charge. The entire team played as a unit, keeping the ball moving over the net and in play.

Zak Marley, a Williamsville South graduate and Williamsville resident shot a 79 to finish in the top ten for the Heidelburg College men's golf team in a tri-match with Ohio Northern University and Defiance College on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Matthew Kastan of East Amherst has been named to the 2007 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association All Academic Sailing Team First Team which honors outstanding male and female scholar athletes who have succeeded at the highest level, both on the water and in the classroom.

Kastan is a 2007 University of Rhode Island graduate with a degree in electrical/biomedical engineering and a GPA of 3.81.

Union College's Tripp Pietrak, an Amherst resident, was named Liberty League's Co-Offensive Performer of the Week for the week of Sept. 17 to 23.

Pietrak scored three goals in Union's 4-0 home win over fifth ranked Hobart. It was the Statesmen's first loss of the season. He had four shots in the contest. Pietrak also took a shot that went off the post and then was knocked in by Chris Poey in a 1-0 overtime win vs. Hamilton. Pietrak has 11 goals and 23 points with 31 shots on the season.

Niagara Frontier Volleyball will offer two free clinics to girls 12 years and younger at the new Buffalo Niagara Court Facility located at 425 Meyer Rd., West Seneca from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 27.

The clinic is open to all Western New York girls that are interested in exposure to the sport of volleyball. This is not a pre-registered event. Girls should come prepared to participate with appropriate clothing, sneakers and knee pads (optional). There are no locker facilities, so plan accordingly. Parents are welcome to stay on site, but asked to bring your own folding chairs.

The opportunity to register for the 2007-2008 NFVB club season will be available throughout the clinic times/dates.
