June Edith Ziemniak, retired school nurse

June Edith Ziemniak, 87, of Amherst, died on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 in her home.

Born in Rochester, she graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1937 and from the Highland Hospital School of Nursing, where she began her nursing career, in 1940. She was also a school nurse for the Rochester City School District from 1966 to 1985.

She was proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed supporting Polish cultural events in the Rochester and Buffalo areas, especially polka dances.

She is survived by her husband, Alexander; one son, Stephen, of Latham, N.Y.; two daughters, Susan Amorese and Pamela Hughes, both of Williamsville; one brother, Gerald Skibinski, of Webster; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, Rochester. Arrangements were made by Dengler & Roberts Funeral Home, Kenmore.
