Couple mark 40 years

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pur tell

Joyce and Ronald Purtell of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Amherst, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a small family gathering in Charlotte.

Ronald Purtell married the former Joyce Paddleford on Oct. 7, 1967 at St. John's Church in Binghamton, N.Y.

Ronald is a retired director of human resources from Bristol Myers Squibb, where he worked for more than 30 years. Joyce is an entrepreneur.

The couple enjoy photography, hiking, traveling, craft-making and golf.

They have two daughters and two grandsons.
