On the Campus

Kaitlyn Gesel was recently inducted into the honor's program at Potsdam State College. She is the daughter of James and Cheryl Gesel of Williamsville.

Cristian Cruz of East Amherst was awarded a bronze medal for third place in the masonry competition at the National SkillsUSA Championship in Kansas City, Mo. Cruz, a student at Alfred State College, went to nationals after placing first in the statewide competition.

Emily Warren has been named to the dean's list at Mercyhurst College for the 2006-07 academic year. She is the daughter of Gary and Mary Warren of Amherst.

Katherine Tirone has received the John D. Voelker Award from the Law Review upon graduating from Cooley Law School. A member of the dean's list and honor roll, she is a graduate of Amherst Central High School.

Matthew Kastan of East Amherst has been named to the 2007 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association All Academic Sailing Team - First Team which honors outstanding male and female scholar athletes who have succeeded at the highest level in the water and classroom. He is a 2007 graduate of the University of Rhode Island.

Emmett Booth has been named a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist for the 2007-08 school year for receiving a perfect score on last year's PSAT examination. He is a senior at Amherst Senior High School.
