Fight breast cancer with a stamp

Approximately 180,000 men and women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Thanks to improvements in awareness, early detection, and treatment the outlook for breast cancer patients is better than ever.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is October, the U.S. Postal Service wants to remind customers that there is a significant way to fund the fight against the disease: purchase Breast Cancer Research semi postal stamps.

The stamp costs 55 cents, with 11 cents going directly to breast cancer research. Approximately $60 million has been raised for breast cancer research since the stamp's issuance in 1998. To date, more than 750 million stamps have been sold nationwide. And the stamp is available at post offices across Western New York. On behalf of the U.S. Postal Service, I want to thank those that have supported this stamp and this cause. I also want to encourage customers to keep using the stamp, keep raising breast cancer research funds, and keep the hope alive. This small Breast Cancer Research stamp goes a long way in honoring breast cancer survivors or loved-ones who have lost their battle to breast cancer, and it goes a long way in funding a fight to find a cure.
