• PLAYWRITING COMPETI
T ION - The Write To Be Heard
Student Playwriting Competition is
offering area students in grades 8
through 12 within a 60-mile radius of
Buffalo the opportunity to write a
one-act play and have a public
performance at Shea's Smith Theatre.
The winning playwright will:
• Receive a $1,000 scholarship from
the Laura L. Adams Foundation.
• Have his/her play performed at
Shea's Smith Theatre.
• Receive a staged reading of his/her
play at Barnes and Noble Booksellers in
Amherst.
• Be actively involved in the
production and rehearsal process.
Competition Guidelines
• Students must submit it themselves.
No counselors, teachers, parents and no
collaborations.
• Not previously produced.
• Must be an original one act. No
screenplays, adaptations or musicals.
• Must be received by the Jan. 7,
2008.
• Typed 12 point, double-spaced,
single sided.
• Number all pages and staple.
• Title page must have your name,
complete home mailing address and
phone number, e-mail address (if you
have one) sponsoring teacher's name and
title, school mailing address and phone
number.
• Include a character list at the
beginning of the play.
• Three copies of each play. No
retur ns.
• Students can submit as many
original scripts as they want.
• 25 minutes or shorter preferred.
• The winning play becomes the
property of The Write to Be Heard.

• CALL FOR WORK - Impact
Artists' Gallery is seeking works for the
October exhibit "In Memoriam: Buffalo's
Trees." Photography, fibers, paintings,
drawings, sculpture and ceramics dealing
with trees and human interaction will be
accepted. The entry fee is $15. For more

• FILM PROJECT - Spotlight on
Hope was awarded a film project
commissioned by Gilda's Club, WNY.
The project involves interviews with
members of Gilda's Club as they tell
