ZOOM - Jonathan Rera, a 15-year-old Williamsville North student, competed in his first Mini Indy Cup racing league at Batavia Motor sports on Sept. 8. Rera competed in the championship shootout, featuring racers from two different leagues. In his first season racing carts, Rera won six races. In the final shootout race, Rera started second, taking the lead on the first lap. He never looked back, leading every lap to take the checkered flag and win the overall title. In 2008, Rera will move to a more competitive league, racing the famed Legend Cars at Holland and Lake Erie Speedways.
