East Amherst resident Danielle Carlino, a junior at Williamsville North, helped West Side Rowing Club's Junior B Women's Eight crew take first in its class at the 125th Royal Canadian Henley Regatta held Aug. 9 in St. Catherines, Ont.

The Henley gold is the most precious medal in Canadian rowing. It's the first time in 20 years West Side won Henley gold in this category.

This is Carlino's third summer with West Side. She also rowed in a four boat at states in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. that came in first and qualified them for nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio. The team placed tenth.
