Sweet Home's girls tennis picked up its first win of the season was a 3-2 home victory last Thursday over Iroquois.

Junior first singles Jesse Lewandowski (6-4, 7-6), second singles Laura Hanzly (1-6, 6-2, 6-0) and the first doubles team of freshman Sarah Lewandowski and senior Luta Gugkaeva won in three sets.

Hanzly, originally the starting third singles player, moved to second after senior Jennifer Osei injured an Achilles heel tendon a day earlier at Lake Shore.

Osei's injury also moved junior Kristen Derby, originally at first doubles, to third singles and Gugkaeva, from second doubles to first singles. An exhibition player will be rotated in with sophomore Shauna Presto at second doubles.

Sweet Home's other games were 4-1 losses to Lake Shore and West Seneca East and 5-0 defeats to Williamsville East and Hamburg.

Jesse Lewandowski (6-4, 6-4) won at Lake Shore; Derby won versus Lake Shore.
