Amherst girls soccer undefeated in ECIC III

Amherst's varsity girls soccer team improved to 3-0-1 in ECIC Division III and 3-3-1 overall after posting three league wins last week.
The Lady Tigers defeated Depew, 6-4, on Sept. 17, Maryvale, 4-0, last Wednesday and Cheektowaga, 5-1, last Friday.
Ali Rogers led Amherst against Depew with three goals. Laura Caty added two goals. Abbie Gowen contributed a goal and assist.
Steph Scime scored twice, Brittany Stachura tallied once and Rogers had a goal and two assists versus Maryvale. Elizabeth Stark added an assist. Goalie Casey McGuire recorded her third shutout of the season.
Caty's hat trick and goals by Meghan Murphy and Scime paced the Lady Tigers over Cheektowaga. Rogers assisted on three of the goals; Megan Hurley and Gowen each chipped in an assist.
The team's defensive standouts for the week were Erin VanLente, Paula Jones, Ariella Korn, Mikaela Maddock. Solid transitional play in the midfield came from Sarah Lasker, Hurley and Casey Carr.
Amherst played Pioneer on Tuesday but the result was unavailable before The Bee went to press. They play at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Starpoint.
