Home invasion possibly linked to homicide
by JESSICA L. FINCH Associate Editor

Amherst police investigators are trying to determine if there is a connection between a home invasion and a recent homicide.

Police responded to Glenhaven Drive where two female victims, ages 15 and 19, reported that two armed men entered the home around 10 p.m. Monday through an unlocked door.

"They ordered the females around the house, demanding money," Assistant Chief Timothy Green said.

According to the police report, the suspects left with only a cell phone.

The men then left in an unknown direction. It was also not known if they left on foot or in a vehicle.

Amherst police have reported that someone in the household is related to a recent murder victim in the city.

"We are obviously concerned here that this is somehow related to a homicide in Buffalo," Green said.

The two suspects, who both displayed handguns, wore masks and gloves. The first is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. The second is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 220 pounds.

Amherst police continue to investigate.
