Capt. Joshua E. Cavan and Meredith C. McBride

Donna and Joseph McBride of Livingston, N.J., announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Caitlin McBride, to U. S. Marine Capt. Joshua Edward Cavan, son of Veronica and Edward Cavan of Amherst.

Miss McBride is a 1997 graduate of Livingston High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public policy and religion from the College of William and Mary and a master's degree in security studies from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. She works as a political analyst.

Her fiance graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1997. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations and a master's degree in security studies, both from George Washington University. He is an active duty infantry officer and a veteran of the Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns. He is stationed in Quantico, Va., and is working on a second master's degree in systems analysis through the Naval Postgraduate School.

A March 2008 wedding is planned.
