Sweet Home searching for first win Sweet Home boys soccer fell to 0-4 on the season with losses to Maryvale, 4-0, and Grand Island, 2-1, on Sept. 4 and 6, respectively. The Panthers trailed Maryvale, 1-0, at halftime. Sweet Home coach Scott Martin said his team played a good first half but a poor second half. "We still lack the understanding of how to put together a complete 90 minutes," said Martin. Like the Maryvale game, Sweet Home fell behind 1-0 to Grand Island by halftime. In the 70th minute, the Panthers' Phil Stewart finished a half volley into the upper left corner on an assist from Donald Thagard to tie the game at 1-1. Grand Island's Shaun Winter would score his second goal of the game with nine minutes remaining, and the Vikings would hold on for the victory. |
