A memorial service to remember the 6 million Jewish victims of the Holocaust will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at at Brith Sholom Cemetery in Cheektowaga, Pine Ridge Road at Maryvale Drive. It will take place at the Holocaust Memorial where two bars of soap from Buchenwald are buried. The bars of soap were brought to Buffalo by Sioma Bialystok, brother of Alex Bialys, and uncle of Gilda Laufer. Rabbi Shay Mintz will officiate. The community is invited to attend. E. Jane Stoddard of East Amherst was the creator of the first Arts at the Gardens commemorative poster released this year. Her watercolor design includes the "Palm House," one of the five greenhouses at Sonnenberg Gardens in Canandaigua. Posters were on sale at the seventh annual Arts at the Gardens Boutique. Stoddard is a multi-award winning artist, including the Medal of Honor in Watercolor Media at the National Art Club Show in New York City.
