Amherst police have charged a 43-year-old woman following an accident on Sept. 4.

Grace Armbruster was charged with following too close and unsafe speed after the Carrier Coach passenger bus she was operating struck a pickup truck, pushing it into a We Care van.

Police responded to the accident at 8:54 a.m. on Sheridan Drive just east of Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Many of the 10 people aboard the Carrier Coach vehicle were injured, although none of the injuries was considered life threatening. Nine of the individuals are disabled.

Armbruster was extricated from the vehicle by responders from Eggertsville Hose. She was transported to Erie County Medical Center with leg injuries.

The driver of the 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck, David Anthony, 52, of Williamsville told police he was experiencing back pain.

Michele Hunter, 38, of Lancaster, driver of the We Care van, was transported to Sisters Hospital with back pain. Also onboard the van was an aide and a disabled person.

Five Twin City ambulances responded to assess the victims at the scene, as well as Erie County's SMART team, which provided doctors from ECMC to help the disabled parties who were injured.

Senior Investigator Kevin Murphy investigated the accident.
