Home invasions reported, delivery man held up in busy weekend for police At 1:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7 a woman was awoken by two men in her bedroom on Mona Drive. She was ordered upstairs to her brother's bedroom by two black male suspects. Her brother was roused and both victims were then ordered to the floor. "They reported the (suspects) repeatedly threatened them, warned them not to look up or move," Amherst Police Capt. Stephen McGonagle said. The victims reported that the men, whose heights were described as 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches, were in the house for 15 minutes. Several items, with a total value of $4,500, were taken. After the suspects departed, the victims left the house in a vehicle before calling 911. They were not harmed. Police believe the suspects entered through a bathroom window. An investigation is continuing. Police are also looking for a thin, tall, black male who is suspected of entering a Hendricks Drive home on Thursday, Sept. 6. The homeowner reported that around 12:20 a.m. he heard a noise in the kitchen. Thinking it was his wife or daughter, the man didn't investigate. He continued to watch TV in a back family room, and a short time later he got up to go to bed. He then noticed that the kitchen window was open and the screen open several inches. The man told police he approached the window and saw the suspect in the driveway. He reportedly shouted at the man, who ran. Police found items in the driveway that had been in the kitchen. That incident also remains under investigation. In a third incident from this past weekend, an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from pizza delivery man. The man was delivering an order to a Grandview Drive address when he was approached by three black males, one holding a tire iron. The victim turned his cash over to the suspects, who fled on foot. Anyone with information on these reports, should call, 689-1390. |
