CFIannounces fall speaker series

The Center for Inquiry will present its Fall Speaker Series 2007 beginning Thursday, Sept. 13 with Carol Bakhos.

Bakhos is an associate professor of late antique Judaism and Jewish Studies at The University of California at Los Angeles. Her current research is on Late Antique rabbinic compilations, Medieval Jewish and Islamic scriptural interpretation.

On Friday, Oct. 12, scholar, historian and writer Susan Jacoby will speak at the center. She is the author of seven books including "FREETHINKERS: A History of American Secularism."

Marc Hauser will be the lecturer on Friday, Nov. 9. He is a Harvard College professor of psychology, organismic and evolutionary biology and biological anthropology. He is also co-director of the Mind, Brain and Behavior program and director of the Cognitive Evolution Lab at Harvard.

Concluding the fall series will be Lawrence Krauss on Friday, Nov. 30. Krauss is a prominent theoretical physicist whose research interests include the interface between elementary particle physics and cosmology. He was nominated for a Grammy award for his liner notes for a Telarc CD of music from "Star Trek" and also once served as a jury member at the Sundance Film Festival.

All lectures will begin at 7 p.m. at the Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Road across from the University at Buffalo's North Campus.

The cost for general admission is $10. Students are $5 and Friends of the Center are admitted free.
