North honors outstanding seniors
by KATE FASSL AND COLIN KNOER

Algoe
Williamsville North Student Council recognizes the achievements of two members of its senior class each month. Students featured in this column are selected by faculty recommendation. The Senior Spartan Spots for September are Shannon Algoe and Lucas Magnini.

Lucas Magnini, son of Nick and Anne Magnini of Getzville, is the president of Williamsville North's Student Council after being treasurer the year before. Lucas attended both the state and national competitions for Distributive Education Clubs of America, North's business team. He earned first place at the state level for hotel lodging and management and earned "advanced" recognition at nationals.

Aside from leading Student Council and DECA, Lucas always makes time to participate in North's Senior Class Steering Committee. Through his years at North, Lucas has played junior varsity volleyball, track and field and varsity lacrosse. Outside school he enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and volunteering for his church youth group.

After graduation, Lucas plans to attend Penn State University and major in hospitality management.

Magnini
Shannon, daughter of Thomas and Kathleen Algoe, is one of four captains on the North varsity soccer team and has led the team to three division titles and two sectional championships. She is vice president of DECA and her Senior Class Steering Committee and is on Inter-High Council, an organization made up of students from all three Williamsville High Schools.

Along with her work for the school, she volunteers at Hilbert College as a juror for its Senior Seminar Mock Trial, has participated in events such as the Jog for the Jake and also finds time to volunteer at her church. In her free time, Shannon enjoys sailing on Lake Ontario and playing league soccer.

She has been recruited to play for the University of Connecticut Huskies' women's soccer team and is hoping to major in premed or education at the university.
