Allstate Minority and Women program offers presentational skills seminar

The University at Buffalo School of Management's Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership will offer a seminar on presentational skills at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Jacobs Executive Development Center, 672 Delaware Ave.

The seminar is part of a series of skill-building sessions presented by CEL to the class of 2007 as part of the Allstate Minority and Women Emerging Entrepreneurs Program designed to provide technical advice on the varied aspects of running a small business.

The featured presenter will be Lori Miller, president and owner of Developing Professionals, a company that provides training, consulting and coaching services in leadership and professional development.

Miller has conducted hundreds of seminars and workshops for corporations, nonprofit groups and professional associations, both locally and nationally. She serves as a part-time adjunct communications professor at Buffalo State College. Her background includes 20 years of management experience in human resources and communications working in Fortune 500 companies, media and higher education.

The interactive seminar will instruct participants in the elements of successful presentation, the appropriate use of visuals, facilitation skills and the art of engaging the audience.

Women and minority business owners interested in applying for the 2008 MWEE program can attend an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the Jacobs Executive Development Center.
