UBAM to hold swim tryout

The UB Amherst Swim Club (UBAM) will start the 2007 season by hosting a swimmer tryout from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 at the University of Buffalo pool in Alumni Arena.

UBAM is a national goal oriented USA Swim Club for swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18 and over. UBAM finished amongst the top 10 percent of all United States Swim Clubs in USA Swimming's Virtual Club Championship.

This season, UBAM is led by a solid group of accomplished swimmers, including former Section VI champions and state qualifiers Michael Lin (Williamsville North), Matt Geiger (Williamsville East), Lukas Shumway, Alex Rindo (Lancaster) and Bailey Woodling

Williamsville East). They look to set the pace for many up-and-coming stars including Michael Anderson (Williamsville East), Maggie Schmidt (Williamsville North) and Jamie Ruh.

UBAM also boasts the area's top learn-to-swim program. It has a full-time learn-to-swim supervisor/administrator, Dan McLaughlin.
