Hawk invades resident's garage

Friday, Aug. 24
• A Fifth Avenue resident reported
that a "weekly bonfire"
was blowing smoke into the complainant's
house. The subjects
said they would move their fire to
the other side of the yard, but the
complainant was still not satisfied.
All were advised.
• Youths were reported damaging
wet cement on Hopkins Road.
Their parents were advised.
Saturday, Aug. 25
• A complainant reported that
while driving on Smith Road, an
object struck the complainant's
car, burst on impact and had a
bad odor. The complainant also
reported a strange substance on
the road.
• A Westwind Lane resident
reported that cars had been parking
on the grassy island in the
cul-de-sac near his property.
• A man on Transit Road
reported that while on a bus, he
was knocked out and robbed of
his wallet and money, possibly by
two people.
• An outdoor pig roast with
loud music was reported on
Maple Road.
• A Monroe Drive resident
reported that something fell from
the sky into the back yard, and
the complainant wanted it picked
up.
Sunday, Aug. 26
• A person wearing red, white
and black was reported racing a
motorcycle throughout the area
of Regency Court. The complainant
said this was an ongoing
problem that lasted until 11 p.m.
every night.
• A complainant pulled to the
side of the road on Interstate 990
because he claimed that a rock
had been thrown at his windshield
and that damage had been done.
He called back to cancel the complaint
because bird droppings had
hit his windshield, not a rock.
Monday, Aug. 27
• Garden supplies were reported
stolen from Peppertree
Drive.
• A Fairgreen Drive complainant
reported that former
tenants took her washer and
dryer when they moved out of the
residence at the beginning of
August.
• A woman on Black Spruce
Court was taken to DeGraff
Memorial Hospital after swallowing
a bee while she was taking a
drink of her beverage.
Tuesday, Aug. 28
• A male at a Transit Road
facility refused to empty his
pockets before a drug test saying
that he had a knife but would not
show it to the complainant. He
then became angry, refused to
test and walked out.
• A refrigerator was reportedly
dumped in the street at Evans
and Eagle Street.
• A hawk was reported flying
around the garage of a Greengage
Circle resident. The complainant
could not get his car out of the
garage because the hawk
swooped at him every time he
went in.
Wednesday, Aug. 29
• A cab driver reported trouble
with an intoxicated male who
would not pay his fare. When
police arrived, however, the man
appeared to be sleeping. He was
then transported to Erie County
Medical Center for evaluation.
• An injured goose was reported
in a North Forest Road back
yard.
• Several mailboxes were reportedly
damaged on Bassett
Road.
Thursday, Aug. 30
• A Ransom Oaks Drive resident
reported that four youths
had hopped a fence and began
playing ping pong in a pool. The
complainant stated that the
youths were not allowed in the
pool.
• A Manor Oak Drive resident
reported receiving "sexual/rude"
phone calls for the past few
weeks.
• Sometime in the early morning
on the previous Tuesday,
someone stole a chair from a
Belvoir Drive residence. The
complainant also found a case of
empty beer bottles.
Two charged with gun possession
A routine traffic stop on Allenhurst Road Monday resulted in gun possession charges.
Amherst Police Officer Thomas Grillo stopped a vehicle around 5:30 p.m. for missing a mirror on the driver's side.
During the stop, Grillo recovered marijuana and a .38-caliber handgun from the center console of the vehicle.
Marcus Jones, 17, and Eddie Jones, 20, both of Buffalo, were charged with criminal possession of a weapon - a D felony. Eddie Jones also faces charges of unlawful possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and without a mirror.
It was unknown at press time if the gun was stolen. Neither had a permit for possessing it.
