Loretta C. Karas, 75, of East Amherst and Naples, Fla., who was active in a number of organizations in the community, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007.
Born Loretta Constance Borowiak, she was a graduate of Amherst High School and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Buffalo.
Mrs. Karas also worked on the Canisius College Scholarship Association, was an original member of the Woman's Guild of St. Joseph's Hospital, and was active in fundraising for Canisius High School.
Mrs. Karas was an avid golfer, a nine-hole club champion and a former 18-hole chairwoman at Park Country Club as well as a member of the Audubon Country Club in Naples, Fla.
She also enjoyed reading, playing the piano and singing.
Mrs. Karas also traveled extensively with her husband, Michael V. Jr., and enjoyed their homes in East Amherst and Naples, Fla.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Karas is survived by three sons, Dr. Paul B., Michael V. III and Bruce A.; a daughter, Susan L. Horstman; and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 4 at Urban Brothers Funeral Home and St. Mary's Church in Swormville.
