Couple renew vows on 50th anniversary

Giovanna and Salvatore Vaccaro of Williamsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows at St. Anthony's Church, Buffalo, and dinner and dancing at Harry's Harbour Place Grille, Buffalo, on Sunday Sept. 2, 2007.

Salvatore Vaccaro married the former Giovanna Picone on Sept. 3, 1957 at San Giuseppe Church in Campobello Di Licata, Sicily.

Salvatore was a construction laborer for Local Union 210 before retiring. Giovanna was a seamstress for Cresbury Clothiers and at Jenss Boulevard Mall before retiring. The couple enjoy traveling together. Salvatore likes to garden and spend time with his grandchildren. Giovanna enjoys baking bread and canning tomatoes and vegetables from Salvatore's garden. The couple have six children and nine grandchildren.
