Travel club to visit Ontario in October The Amherst Senior Travel Club will travel to a Cranberry Festival and Foliage Tour to Ontario, Canada, in October. This two-day, one-night trip, October 12 through 13, will make the most of a fall weekend in Ontario's Muskoka region. Travelers will have the opportunity to enjoy the leaves, water views and the annual Cranberry Festival, where participants will see traditional native fruit harvested in the cranberry marsh and taste cranberry treats. Travelers will also visit the Bala Museum, with an exhibit devoted to Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery, famous for writing the "Anne of Green Gables" books. The museum has one of the best "Anne of Green Gables" gift shops in Canada. Travelers will also enjoy street carnivals, a craft show and entertainment. Price per person, double or triple occupancy, is $211; single occupancy is $289. This includes motor coach transportation, hotel accommodation, one hot breakfast and one dinner, Cranberry Festival activities, Bala Museum and Mariposa Market Emporium. Membership in the Amherst Senior Travel Club is open to all members of the Amherst Center for Senior Services. Any Town of Amherst resident age 55 or over, or spouse of that resident, may join the Amherst Senior Center for a lifetime membership fee of $25. Annual Travel Club membership is $7 for an individual and $10 for a couple. All Senior Center members are invited to Travel Club meetings, which are held at 1 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month.
