What's Going On Open House slated for Highway Department The Amherst Highway Department, 1042 N. Forest Road, will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. German Day slated at Amherst Museum The Amherst Museum will present German Day from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 on the museum grounds, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road. Book sale set at Audubon Library The Audubon Library, 350 John James Audubon Parkway, will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. Oktoberfest cooking demonstration set In concurrence with the nearby Central Terminal's Oktoberfest, the Broadway Market will present "Prosit! American Academy of Ballet holding auditions Auditions for the American Academy of Ballet's Nutcracker at U.B. Center for the Arts will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. (ages 7 to 10) and from 4:30 to 6 p.m. ( Jazz and Tap ages 7-9) Saturday, Sept. 15 and from 12:30 to 3 p.m (Ballet ages 11 and up minimum 4 years ballet training) and from 2:30 to 5 p.m. (Ballet intermediate and advanced levels) Sunday, Sept. 16. Auditions will be held at the American Academy Ballet on Klein Road in Dash's Plaza in Williamsville.Call 688-4774. Ski club to hold registration The Clarence Holiday Valley Ski Club will hold its registration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Clarence Town Park Clubhouse, 10405 Main St. The club is open to all high school students. Ski club begins Jan. 5, 2008 and continues for eight consecutive weeks. If you cannot attend the registration you may register by calling Jane Floss at 741-3083 or Gail Plato at 884-2225. Insurance course offered at Canisius Center The Canisius College Center for Professional Development will offer an insurance course on property and liability insurance principles beginning in the fall. Classes will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 6 through Nov. 29 at the Canisius Center at Amherst, 300 Corporate Parkway. Tuition is $227.
