Marguerite A. 'Peggy' Hayes, retired specialty metal worker

Services were held Sunday, Aug. 26 in St. Gregory the Great Church for Marguerite A. "Peggy" Hayes, a 41-year employee of the Crucible Specialty Metals of Syracuse.

Miss Hayes, 84, of Amherst, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 in Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarence.

Born in Syracuse, she worked at Crucible Specialty Metals of Syracuse until her retirement in 1981.

After retirement, she moved to Buffalo where she was employed for five years in the Continuing Nurse Education Department at the University of Buffalo. She also served as Vice Prefect of the Third Order of St. Francis and was active in the Legion of Mary for several years.

Miss Hayes is survived by a sister, Nancy Dillon of Amherst and a brother, James of St. Catharines, Canada.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga.

Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home.
