State corrections officer exam slated for Oct. 27

An examination will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 for candidates interested in the position of corrections officer trainee with the New York State Department of Correctional Services, announced by Assemblyman Jim Hayes.

Applications for the exam must be postmarked no later than Sept. 10 and must be accompanied by a $30 filing fee.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old on or before the date of appointment and must hold a high school diploma or equivalency diploma. Starting salary for a corrections officer trainee is currently $34,329.
