ATM found chained

Five Star Bank employees at the 5385 Main St. location arrived at work Monday to find the front door ajar and a chain around the ATM.

Amherst Police are reporting the incident as a burglary and are seeking any information leading to those responsible. One report involves a suspicious van seen driving through the Williamsville cemetery near the bank around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Assistant Chief Timothy Green said it appears the suspect(s) forced the front door of the bank open, wrapped the chain around the ATM in attempt to rip it out but didn't have any success.

Damage was reported. Anyone with information can call 689-1333.
