Residents asked to contact Town about damaged trees; third phase of removal beginning Amherst Highway Superintendent Robert Anderson said phase 3 of storm damaged trees has begun. The department has completed the removal of Phase 1 and Phase 2 trees in the Town of Amherst. Phase 1 trees included all critical/dangerous trees. The Phase 2 trees removed were heartwood damaged trees that would not survive long-term. "Moving into Phase 3 we are asking for residents input in regard to trees they feel need to be removed," Anderson said. Residents should contact the Highway Department with the street address of the tree(s) they would like reviewed for possible take down. This phase will concentrate on "match stick" or "Charlie Brown" trees that may survive but no longer serve any useful purpose. Anyone who feels they have one of these trees in the front of their property, that meet these criteria, can e-mail at checkmytree@amherst.ny.us or call 839-6707 and leave a message. All notification should be submitted by Friday, Sept. 7. |
