People Inc. Foundation awards scholarships

The dedication and commitment of seven People Inc. employees were recognized on Aug. 22 at the Vanner Foundation Scholarship Luncheon held at the Park Country Club.

The employees were each awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the People Inc. Foundation Board, which is designed to support employee career development within the agency and provide financial assistance to students currently enrolled in fall 2007 classes.

Scholarship winners from human services were: Stacie Dopko, a service coordinator who is pursing a master's degree in social work at the University at Buffalo; Christy Ferriter, a service coordinator pursuing a master's degree in social work at UB; and Amy Mazurkiewicz, a program administrator pursuing a bachelor's degree in social work from Buffalo State College.

From therapies: David Armstrong, a behavior specialist pursuing a dual master's degree in school and mental health counseling from Canisius College; and from education: Amy Chase, a program administrator at the day program at Buffalo State, pursuing a bachelor's degree in education and special education from Buffalo State.

From nursing: Meghan Kutas, a program administrator at the Downing Family Respite House, pursuing a degree in nursing and her registered nurse license; and Chantelle Nappo, a team leader in a group home, pursuing a nursing degree from Trocaire College and her registered nurse license.
