Amherst resident Ellie Hoerbelt made a hole-in-one at her first visit to Rolling Hills Golf Course on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Hoerbelt used her driver on the 146-yard third hole. She was given a sleeve of logo golf balls and will receive a certificate suitable for framing.

The Buffalo Wings 12U travel baseball team will hold tryouts for the 2008 season at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2 at the Beverly Hills Park in Cheektowaga.

The rain date is at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at the same location.

Tryouts for the Amherst Girls 10U Fastpitch travel team will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 30 at the Amherst Pepsi Center, 1615 Amherst Manor Dr.

Girls must be age 10 or under as of Dec. 31, 2007.

The Sheridan Park Friday Golf Club championship was held Aug. 18. The winners were: overall champion - Sue Robillard (88), runner-up - Joy Denzak (96), A Flight - low gross: Sue Schottke (98), low net - Sheila Keefe (98-28-72), B Flight - low gross - Patty George (98); low net - Cathy Potenza (102-32-70), C Flight - low gross: Joanne Van DeWater (109); low net: Bobbie Lindner (110-38-72), D Flight - low gross: Heather Randall (112); low net: Patty Aldrich (114-42-72).

Tryouts for the Williamsville East boys golf team will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 27 at Audubon Golf Course, 500 Maple Road. Physical verification will be held at 8 a.m. at East High School, 151 Paradise Road. Any seventh through twelfth grader at East can try out.

Tryouts for the Mathewson McCarthy Baseball 2008 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U tournament teams will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26 at their diamonds on Wehrle Dr., east of Youngs Road.

To be eligible, a player must be the designated age as of April 30, 2008. 9U and 11U players will be held from 10 a.m. to noon followed by the 10U and 12U players from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Parents will be briefed by the manager on the tryout format and selection process at the tryout.
