Amherst Senior Transportation Services expands wheelchair van routes

Amherst Senior Transportation Services has expanded its wheelchair van transportation routes to areas outside of the Town of Amherst. ASTS wheelchair vans can now take eligible senior citizens to additional localities including Tonawanda, Kenmore, Clarence, North Cheektowaga, North Lancaster, Buffalo North of Rt. 198 Expressway, Buffalo South of Rt. 198 Expressway and West Seneca North of Rt. 400 Expressway.

Fees vary depending upon destination.

ASTS is a not-for-profit agency committed to providing transportation assistance to enhance the quality of life and promote independence for persons age 55 and older. Regular vans and wheelchair vans are available.

Reservations for ASTS van service must be made in advance and certain limitations apply. Riders needing assistance must be accompanied. Service is provided weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Rates for transportation to medical appointments will vary depending on the destination and type of service requested. For transportation to the Amherst Senior Center, a minimum contribution of $1.50 is requested for each way.
