Will Murrett, member of Boy Scout Troop 47, has been working towards the rank of Eagle Scout. As part of that honor, each Scout has to complete a service project.
Near his home in East Amherst he noticed the storage garage on the property of the American Legion, Alfred J. Jurek Post No. 1672 was in need of a face lift.
He recruited 41 Scouts and adult advisors to assist as his work crew to refurbish the exterior of the building. Next he presented his place to Sellmore Industries, Inc. in Buffalo, Murzak Enterprises in Cheektowaga and Kitchen Advantage in East Amherst, who in turn donated all the materials required to repair the garage.
The volunteers put on a new shingle roof, aluminum siding and replaced the old double garage door.
"The young men did a fantastic job. Due to the initiative of Will Murrett, he and his crew made an old building look brand new again. We are very appreciative of their efforts," Post Commander John Geiten said.
Troop 47 is sponsored by Good Shepherd Church in Pendelton. Murrett is the son of John and Karen Murrett and will be a senior at Williamsville North High School.
