The seventh annual Race to Cure Childhood Cancer, in memory of Jeff Casterline, will be held Saturday.
The 5K run begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center, 2402 N. Forest Road, Getzville.
Day of race registration and pre-registration packet pickup is from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers and medals for first-, second- and third-place finishers in 14 age groups, for both male and female.
Following the race, lunch will be catered by Olive Garden at the Ramada's outdoor tent area. Music will be provided by System of Sound.
The event is being held in memory of Jeff Casterline, a tri-athlete and former member of the Bond Lake Running Club, who in 1996, after having completed five marathons and two triathlons, was diagnosed with cancer.
Casterline had been an avid supporter of children with cancer so the run was organized in his memory with proceeds going to the Association for Research of Childhood Cancer Inc.
The association is a 100 percent voluntary organization. Since 1971, $2 million was raised for research grants, and medical equipment at hospitals and research facilities.
